By Renee Clifton
122cm x 152.5cm
4cm thickness
On stretched canvas and ready to hang
Painting represents my mothers first memories of growing up around Ooldea/Oak Valley on Kokatha Country on the Farwest Coast of South Australia. My mother was born at Koonibba Mission on Wirangu Country near Ceduna where the Wirangu, Kokatha and Mirning Aborigines were resettled due to Government policies of colonisation . My mother was adopted by her Grandmother and her husband. They were rabbit trappers who did this a living. My Great grandmother, her husband and my mother lived a transient life along the West Coast of South Australia as they kept chasing casual work on farms to survive. My painting represents all the places they travelled to and the beautiful countryside they got to see.
